Poem for my babes...

When I was a young child I questioned everything,
my mind was searching for eternity.
I couldn't see my future, and I questioned all the past,
like a wounded solider buried in the snow.
Then I woke to find myself dreaming and I wiped my tears away,
the dream was done, it was the start of a brand new day.
And I was sure of just one thing,
that I knew love was everything.
Then I stood up straight and tall,
and I felt life and touched it all.
Then I turned to find you in the mist of it all,
and I found love, in all my tomorrows,
yes I found love and no more sorrows.

Now I sit here watching as you fall asleep,
and I know that you have so much in life to do.
I will take your hand in mine and lead you to the sea,
of awakened dreams and a brand new destiny.
Because you are just a child,
and you have so many miles to go and grow,
and learn and see and smile.
I know it won't be long before,
you'll question every mile,
just like I did.
And you will wake to find your dreams
you will see hope in everything,
and if the world comes crashing down tomorrow,
please remember just one thing
love is the only answer,
love is everything.
